MR. ROBOT - THE FINAL SEASON

CONTEXT

The fourth and final season of the show, Mr. Robot would span a 5-day period leading up to Christmas, and the show's creator wanted to position the series finale as a “Christmas Special”. Also, the show’s lead actor Rami Malek, had just won the Oscar® for his portrayal of Freddie Mercury in “Bohemian Rhapsody”.

OBJECTIVE

The main objectives were to highlight the series coming to an end, have viewers catch-up on VOD, and drive them to tune-in live for the finale. There was also a small interest in showcasing an Academy Award winning actor as prominently as possible.

SOLUTION

Because the series culminates with a battle between the protagonist and his arch rival, we wanted it to be clear that our hero was preparing for a fight.

We selected the very talented Marco Grob to photograph the cast against a red ”somewhat Christmas-y” backdrop and shot our hero, donning his suit of armor (his black hoodie sweatshirt).

MY ROLE

I was the design lead and developed the strategy and managed the visual creative development from start to finish.
